Phillip Island Race Report: 22nd-24th February 2013

Team InsureMyRide take 4th overall at season opener!

Phillip Island was the host of Round 1 of the Australian Superbike Championship and my debut in the superbike class with team InsureMyRide racing.

This round was a feature race in conjunction with WSBK and awarded no Championship points. This was a huge relief for team InsureMyRide Racing and would allow us to take our time learning the new CBR1000RR.

New bike, new team and new surface on the GP circuit set a steep learning curve for the team but we’re positive and saw improvements in every session out on the track.

The power, slick tyres and the DVS suspension system were just a few things to get my head around over the weekend. Missing out on becoming a member of the 300km/h club by just 4km/h was probably my only let down all weekend but still saw us reach the goals we set ourselves for the weekend.

Two top 5 finishes and reaching the respectable time of 1.34.7 made Team InsureMyRide Racing’s weekend very successful. It was an unreal feeling to be racing in the premier class in Australia. Step by step the team and I are gaining confidence with the CBR and are looking forward to the first round of the Formula Extreme Championship at Eastern Creek this coming weekend.

I am extremely excited to be working with Team InsureMyRide Racing in 2013 and look forward to becoming a serious contender in the superbike class.

I am also excited to announce that Mydrade - premium hypotonic sports drinks, Reevu helmets and Ipone oils are supporters of Team InsureMyRide Racing for the 2013 season.
