Media Release – 07/06/2013 “Successful Superbike debut for Scott in Tasmania”
Team InsureMyRide Racing’s Glenn Scott has achieved some extraordinary results in his first points round in the Australian Superbike Championship, securing sixth overall and second in the privateers rankings which has given the 21 year-old a great launching pad leading into the coming rounds.
Glenn kick started the final day in Tasmania with a solid performance in the opening warm-up, it was a chance for the Team InsureMyRide Racing outfit to test some changes made in preparation for the final race, and it filled Glenn with plenty of confidence.
“The warm-up went really well, the few changes we made to the bike seemed to work, we ran yesterday’s race tyres so we could the feel the changes and were happy to be only 0.5seconds off yesterday’s time.
“I worked hard on changing a few lines to improve my edge grip and this seemed successful also, I’m really excited for the final race,” said Scott.
With the starting positions for race two as per qualifying, Glenn was looking set for another strong top ten result. Crucially, he was able to maintain his target low 55second times with his fastest coming on lap 14 of the 16 lap race with a 55.382.
“Today was a difficult race but again really enjoyable, I’m already thinking about what we can improve for Queensland.
“Unfortunately I took a few laps to find my feet in the race which made me lose touch with the top six but once I was comfortable the bike handled really well.
“We just need more time to learn the bike, I’m really happy with our results for our first Australian Superbike points race, it’s incredible to get such a good result in the privateers rankings, we’ve found a great base to build from and I can’t wait to get back on the Team InsureMyRide Racing Honda in Queensland,” Scott concluded.
Round 3 of the 2013 Australian Superbike Championship takes place at Queensland Raceway, Ipswich, Queensland from 14-16 June.
