Glenn gets selected for Elite Riders Camp at the Australian Institute of Sport

Fuglies Eyewear, Insure my Ride team rider Glenn Scott was selected to attend an elite riders training camp held at the Australian Institute of Sport (A.I.S.). Hosted by Motorcycling Australia, Glenn made his way to Canberra on the 20th of September to spend four days learning about the physical and mental psychological preparation needed for motorcycle racing from the most well renowned trainers and lecturers in the world.

Fuglies Eyewear, Karisma joinery rider Glenn said, “Each day kicked off with an early start consisting of high intensity aerobic session, core stability and strength conditioning. The sessions where designed to teach us various exercises and the technique to give a quality training session to prepare us physically for race day.”

Various physical tests were taken throughout the week to discover the level of fitness of each of the thirteen athletes attending the camp. Glenn scored 14.1 in the aerobic fitness beep test, which was the highest score out of the elite riders. He also completed all 5 levels in the abdominal strength test. The last test was the vertical jump. This measured power in the legs. Glenn reached a height of 282cm.

Technical, tactical and psychological skills are essential in conditioning a rider to have the package to ride a motorbike fast. The week also involved many lectures from A.I.S staff on nutrition, psychology, self-massage, recovery, public speaking, exercise programming, resume writing and dealing with media.

Glenn found all lectures very interesting and helpful but Nutrition and psychology stood out for young Glenn. He said, “This is where I don’t have much knowledge and there is a lot of room for improvement”.

After the four days Glenn had learnt an astounding amount and was sad to leave the A.I.S facilities.

Glenn is confident that after his time at the Elite Rider Camp, he has improved or found ways to improve his package as motorcycle racer leading up to the last round of the Formula Xtreme Championship.

Glenn is excited to get back on the zx600 bike on the 31st of October where he will be proud to promote his business partners and supporters Fuglies Eyewear, Insure my Ride, Karisma joinery, Shogai imports, Elite Sports Massage and Knight Signs. And push him-self to pick up where he left off last round at Wakefield and improve on this 5th place result.

Glenn also would like to say a big thanks to Motorcycling Australia for holding such an amazing week and also to all A.I.S staff.

A special thanks to Coach & Trainer Paul Caslick and Personal Trainer Mickael Brummell.
